The Chicago Bulls opened the preseason defeating the New Orleans Pelicans 113-109 on Tuesday night in New Orleans. The Bulls are a very different team this year with younger players eager to make difference. This was an impressive win for the Bulls despite their rebuild. The Bulls 3-point shooting shows promise. The Bulls were actively shooting 3-pointers and made 16 of 35. Paul Zipser was 2 for 3, Jerian Grant 2 for 2, Nikola Mirotic 3 for 8, and Denzel Valentine 4 for 7 from the 3-point line. This could possibly be a sign of things to come from the Bulls 3-point shooting. Pelicans guard Rajon Rondo tried to turn things around as he forced passes to get his teammates involved, but they couldn’t execute. For the Pelicans, Anthony Davis scored 24 points and DeMarcus Cousins scored 20. For the Bulls, Cristiano Felicio contributed 15 points, Nikola Mitotic and Justin Holiday both added 14 points. Late in the fourth quarter, the Pelicans kept the game close, Ian Clark scored a 3-pointer and attempted another. However, Jarell Eddie returned the favor and scored a 3-pointer to seal the deal. It was his only points of the game. Even though this was a preseason game, the Bulls definitely showed great potential. I think we will get a better look when Zach LaVine, Lauri Markkanen, and Quincy Pondexter are in play. The Bulls will travel to Minnesota fortheir next preseason game.
