The 2024 Chicago Blues Festival

Story By: Charita Smith | CS3 MEDIA The 2024 Chicago Blues Festival The largest free Blues festival in the world returned to Chicago with opening night performances at the historic Ramova Theatre in Bridgeport on Thursday and three more days of performances in Millennium Park.  Millennium Park welcomed more than 35 performances and more than 250 artists. The 40th Annual Chicago Blues Festival attendees included local, national, and international blues fans that enjoyed various styles of blues music.

Some of the 2024 Chicago Blues Festival notable artists included Shemekia Copeland, Ronnie Baker,  Brooks, Melody Angel, Mr. Sipp, Keith Johnson & The Big Muddy Band, Nora Jean Wallace, Sheryl Youngblood, Southern Avenue, Vanessa Collier, Dexter Allen, Melvin Taylor, The Mike Wheeler Band, Cash Box Kings, and Buddy Guy.

As part of his “Damn Right Farewell” tour, Buddy Guy marked this special Sunday evening performance as one of his final Chicago performances.  Buddy Guy closed the festival out in great fashion as only he can.  The crowd was entertained the moment he stepped on the stage.  He performed some of his hits with the help of his blues friends. From start to finish, the 2024 Chicago Blues Festival was historical.
