This year, the Taste of Chicago was moved to September from its usual dates around the Fourth of July weekend because of the NASCAR Street Race. For over 40 years, the Taste of Chicago has been a staple for food connoisseurs from all over the world. This year the Taste of Chicago had neighborhood pop-up events leading up to The Taste of Chicago in Humboldt Park, Pullman Park and Marquette Park.
Along with more than 35 of Chicago’s favorite food vendors and 15 food trucks at The Taste, visitors and locals also got a chance to enjoy three days of live music performances in Grant Park. The 2023 Taste of Chicago Main Stage music line-up included a diverse mix of national and international artists. Artists that performed on the main stage at this year’s Taste included: Slique Jay Adams and Mamii, Meagan McNeal, Doug E. Fresh, EPMD, KRS-One, Slick Rick, ÉSSO, Lupita Infante with Mariachi Sirenas, Proyecto Uno, Nola Adé and Cloud Farmers, White Mystery, and Whitney.
On Hip-Hop day at The Taste of Chicago, the City of Chicago honored DJ Casper with a proclamation making September 8, 2023 “DJ Casper Day”. The crowd was asked to perform the “Cha Cha Slide” in honor of DJ Casper.

Next, Doug E. Fresh, EPMD, KRS-One, and Slick Rick paid tribute to 50 years of Hip-Hop. These legends of Hip-Hop performed some of their greatest hits that spanned for the 80s’ to the 00’s. With cheers and excitement, the crowd enjoyed every moment of these historical performances. Despite the date change of the Taste of Chicago, it was well attended.
