DOUGLAS PARK-The 2017 Chicago Westside Music Festival was a community focused event. There were free back-to-school supplies given to Chicago students. The festival included a gospel music and morning prayer session led by Pastor John Hannah of New Life Covenant Church Southeast in Chicago. Later in the evening, Lil’ Mo, Vivian Green, and Dru Hill performed.
Headliner Dru Hill celebrated their 20 year anniversary at the festival. They performed many of their great hits including: Never Make A Promise, 5 Steps, In My Bed, Beauty, and Sisqo performed Incomplete, Unleash the Dragon, and a remix of Thong Song. The Chicago Westside Music Festival is an annual music festival that is free to the community! The festival was created to fill the void of cultural programming and outlets available to residents on the West Side of Chicago. The festival helps establish the West Side as a destination for music and summer festival fun, drawing audiences from both local and citywide communities. The festival is produced by the Westside Cultural Foundation and is a Chicago Park District “Night Out in the Parks” event.
