Every year, The Football Classic attracts high school students interested in going to college, HBCU alumni, Fraternities and Sororities, and people who want to experience the thrills of the Classic. The Classic’s mission is to inspire African-American high school and college students through support for programs, initiatives and events that increase awareness of opportunities to achieve educational excellence. CFC events influence students and parents to consider the rich academic and cultural opportunities offered by Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

This year Morehouse College defeated Central State University 43-9. The football game was highlighted with an amazing battle of the bands during the game and halftime show. The bands showcased their precision and musical talent. Also, the Football Classic included a tailgating event, college fair, vendor market place, a high school battle of the bands, and the Sherman Dodge car raffle.  A portion of the ticket sales and car raffle will support the Football Classic’s college scholarship fund.

With the scholarship program in place, the Football Classic showcases the talents, potential, and accomplishments of scholarship recipients as well as the benefits of attending HBCUs.   Also the organization seeks to encourage African American students and their families to lift the bar of excellence and achievement via a vehicle involving students, their families and the entire community. That vehicle became known as the Chicago Football Classic, a weekend-long itinerary of cultural, educational and other exhilarating activities.

The Chicago Football Classic, a not-for-profit organization, was formed in 1997 by a small local group of African American businessmen- Larry Huggins, Everett Rand and Tim Rand.  The organization is dedicated to encourage African American youth to achieve their personal best in school and beyond, and to empower them to not only complete high school, but also attend Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
